Sets up, adjusts and operates laboratory equipment and instruments to test and analyze oil products. Calibrate laboratory instruments, as necessary. Ensures equipment maintenance and calibration requirements are completed daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly prior to operating Lab equipment and ensure all log books are kept current.
Prepares chemical solutions according to standard formulas. Tests oil samples used in heavy equipment for such qualities as purity, stability, viscosity, density, etc. Verifies conformity to specifications. Ensures fluid samples are given the applicable test, i.e., wear metals, water, glycol, particle count, infrared, coolant analysis, fuel, TBN, fuel test.
Records test results on standardized forms and prepares test reports. Prepares graphs and charts, as necessary.
Receives samples, and breaks down by branch, customer, and compartments daily. Maintains history for all enrolled units and ensure records are accurate and complete. Ensures samples are registered daily into the Cat M&I System and all additional test results are entered by electronic transfer or manual input.
Provides assistance in the absence of Lab Supervisor, as needed. Interprets samples and contact Lab Manager for assistance in notifying Customers/Internal Personnel of abnormal or urgent samples, as needed.
Ensures all department filing and sample billing is completed daily. Ensures all T.A. reports are prepared within 24 hours of receiving and copies are distributed to customers and appropriate personnel.
Maintains an active log on SOS Kits and Refill Kits sold and invoicing accountable. Performs inventory monthly to ensure that adequate inventory of supplies will be on hand at all times.
Maintains laboratory equipment by ensuring they are clean and sterile. Ensures the lab is kept clean, orderly, and safe and that all necessary supplies are kept in a safe, neat, and organized manner.
