Primary Job Role
Lead strategic safety initiatives developing and executing the company’s fleet safety and compliance strategy aligned with organizational goals.
Ensure regulatory compliance overseeing adherence to DOT, OSHA, and other applicable regulations across all fleet operations.
Design and manager safety programs creating and implementing comprehensive safety policies, procedures, and training programs for drivers and fleet personnel.
Oversee inspections and audits managing regular vehicle inspections, audits and compliance checks, ensuring timely resolution of safety issues.
Lead investigations of motor vehicle accidents (MVAs), conduct root cause analyses, and issue companywide safety alerts.
Monitor and report key metrics, analyzing and reporting on driver and vehicle safety performance, including DOT scores, audit outcomes, and compliance trends.
Manage driver performance systems, overseeing the Driver Safety Performance System and Recognition Program, including metric development and Driver Safety Advisory Board.
Maintain policy and handbook compliance reviews, revises, and communicates driver policies and handbooks, ensuring periodic re-testing and policy awareness.
Oversees safety data systems, manages databases for driver testing, medical compliance, and fleet maintenance tracking, ensuring data integrity and timely updates.
Standardize vehicle safety equipment defining and maintaining minimum safety standards for vehicle configurations, updating SOPs as new technologies emerge.

Education and Experience
Formal Education Bachelor's Degree in a related area of study
Experience 7 or more years
Required / Credentials
Able to easily and effectively comprehend written material and communicate orally and in writing with employees and customers.
Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Transportation Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in fleet management, safety, or compliance roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership position.
Familiarity with DOT, OSHA, and FMCSA regulations.
Not Required but Highly Desired Criteria
Relevant certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Transportation Professional (CTP) are preferred.
Updating of Knowledge
Job requirements change requiring re-training to stay current every 1-2 years.
