Main Duties & Responsibilities

Primary Job Role

 

Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment in conjunction with maintaining buildings/facility.

 

Troubleshoots electronic controls on items such as gate operators, industrial garage door operators, machine shop tools and industrial ventilation fans.

 

Replaces electric motors and troubleshoot motor controls.

 

Repairs overhead cranes, hoist and bridge works. Replaces electrical lighting fixtures.

 

Installs IT wiring cable ends (CAT 5 and CAT 6) and refigure simple switches.

 

Maintains plumbing fixtures and plumbing lift stations.

 

Performs Internet research of parts manufacturers and troubleshooting. Initiates purchase orders for parts and contractor assistance.

 

Repairs building to includes minor sheet rock and stud wall repair, replacement of door hardware both commercial store front style and commercial interiors.

 

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Formal Education High School diploma or GED

 

Experience 5-6 years

Required / Credentials

Able to easily and effectively comprehend written material and communicate orally and in writing with employees and customers.

 

5 years or more experience in Building service trades to include as many of the following: plumbing, low/high electrical (including motors and controls), carpentry, building construction HVAC, etc.

 

Must have experience with the repair of overhead cranes, hoist and bridge works.

 

Advanced wiring knowledge. Basic knowledge of IT network hardware and Cat 5 cabling requirements.

 

Able to read and understand building construction drawings and wiring and control diagrams.

Not Required but Highly Desired Criteria

Knowledge of basic computer and internet skills preferred.

 

Some computer skills in CAD would be desirable.

 

Post High school technical educational training desirable.

Updating of Knowledge

Job requirements change requiring re-training to stay current every 1-2 years.
