Main Duties & Responsibilities

Primary Job Role

Sources suppliers / vendors to ensure competitive procurement, improvement efforts and less expensive solutions. Consults catalog and interviews suppliers to obtain prices and specifications. Conducts Requests for Proposals.

 

Verifies bills from suppliers with bids and purchase orders, properly code for general ledger and approves invoices for payment. Provides Accounts Payable vendor additions, changes or deletions.

 

Compares prices, specifications, and delivery dates with suppliers. Confers with suppliers concerning late deliveries.

 

Utilizes and understands Procurement system and monitors compliance across all locations. Develops and maintains an inventory of indirect items.

 

Maintains business to business relationships with suppliers / vendors. Responsible for new vendor set up and maintenance of supplier / vendor database.

 

Manages supplier / vendors agreements and blanket purchase orders.

 

Manages performance of supplier / vendor base. Collaborates with suppliers to address and resolve performance issues.

 

Performs other duties as assigned.

Seeks and uses others' input about critical actions, timelines, sequencing, scope, methodology, expected outcomes, and priorities. Adjusts plans based on input.

 

Interpersonal Skill: Anticipates, notices, and understands concerns of others, involving them in a process or decision to ensure their support. Develops and maintains positive relationships. Knows when to escalate critical issues when unsuccessful in gaining support.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Formal Education High School diploma or GED

 

Experience 3-4 years

Required / Credentials

Able to easily and effectively comprehend written material and communicate orally and in writing with employees and customers.

 

Knowledge of purchasing procedures and practices.

 

Computer skills, Excel, Word, Lotus Notes, Microsoft Office 365, Imaging programs/software required.

 

Ability to analyze varying products and service features, prices and qualities, and determine most cost-effective purchase for the organization.

Job requirements occasionally change requiring re-training to stay current every 3-5 years.
